I’m looking for a figure that cna be used as is (or moddified, though I have alot less skill in that) of someone standing on the back hull of a M-10 using the Mg on the back of the turret. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Maybe the standing .50 gunner from the old Tamiya US Support Waapons set. He is posed firing from a gound mounted AA .50 but probably can be modified to what you need.
thanks
That guy’s crouching, firing at an airborne target, so you may have to find a different set of legs if he’s firing at a ground-target… It’ll work as is, more or less, if you have an elevated target being engaged, like a bad guy on the roof or somethin’…
Im trying to do a dio of the thing that got Audy Murphie his first medal of honor, holding off the germans from the burning M10
Oh, good call… Maybe you’d consider holding up on it until the start of the “Hollywood at War” GB I proposed? Murphy recreated the scene in To Hell and Back…

You wouldn’t have to recreate him using the Sherman in the movie, since that’s part of the ‘license’ in the build… The M-10 would be fine…
well at this point im only doing the rearch for it. I like to beable to know what kits I’m going to use and exactly where to find them before I even think about starting, this probably wont be for a while.
I had a feeling of that is whatit was for when you mentioned the M10. The crouching position would be appropriate, and just some repositioning of the arms and head may be enough to get him in a good firing position standing on the rear deck. You will only know once you test fit. But the basic pose sounds very workable.
Yep, that “crouch” might be very handy.
First off, even on a stout vehicle mount, the .50 has a certain “chug” in the recoil impulse delevered back to the shooter. It’s near reflex to lean into that a tad. So that AA gunner crouch could be “rotated” foraward a bit and be excellent posing.
Secondly, modeling AM really helps, since that figure already is wearing leggings, if memory serves (might need a '41 field jacket for ETO, though). But, that would be much less work than the conversion to armor crewman.
Next step would be in resolving the big giant debate over whether 3rd actually wore their Numeral Five (what is looks like to an old salt like me) logo on their steel pots into battle (a point of no small contentions among the ETO reenactor community).
