1/35 KV-1 by Trumpeter Finished Pics

After many delays I installed the final details.

Looks Awesome! How are those kits to put together ? Thinking of getting one .

Very easy to put together, no snafus, which is one of the reasons the company is growing in popularity. The level of detail is light years ahead of Tamiya’s KV from the 70s.

Very nice MonsterZero. I admire that you tried to do a white-wash. Yes it could have just been applied, and I do see some weathering around the bolts, but I think it would come across more accurately if you added some light washes over it to dirty it up a bit. I couldn’t imagine it being too prestine for long unless it were just applied. Just my [2c]

Nice looking model there! I have been thinking about doing a KV-I this winter and I have one of the old Tamiya kits in the stash, but after seeing this I may just pick up this one instead. Did you use any AM stuff?, and what did you use for the tow cables?

There are all kinds of washes over the white paint but they are so subtle they won’t show in a picture of this resolution. Maybe it’s the lighting.

No aftermarket parts. The tow cable is metal and it comes with the model.

Nice KV-1. it looks like you put alot of effort into it. you did a fine job.

Nice work. I agree with Tigerman; the KV looks much too clean.

I disagree with Tigerman and EasyMike. I think your kit looks great. It’s motivated me to look into getting a Russian tank. Thanks for posting and keep up the great work.

Great build, brother. Excellent work.

They build up real nice with little fuss.Just like this one.

Nice work on your KV, the banded pattern is one that’s always appealed to me for these guys. If you’re having trouble with getting the subtle effects to show in the photos, it may be caused by your lighting “washing out” the details if it’s direct light. If you can shield the light using a light box or even just some tissue paper (have to be careful about heat buildup), it will help diffuse the light and give the camera a better shot at capturing the more subtle effects.

Trumpeter’s KV-1s are fun kits to build, I just wish they’d carried that standard on to all their subsequent kits… [:(]

really beautiful model, looks real. for me, white paint is pretty hard to put down, what kind of paint(s) did you use ?

Great job on that ,excellent[tup]

I thought their Sturer-Emil was a pretty easy build. You built one didn’t you? In accurate?

I like it a lot, looks great as-is. Sometimes the “dirt-level” should be toned down a bit, IMHO. I’ve got that one started, in the box somewhere, hope to get back to it soon.

Tman…never built the Emil, but have built some of their other kits that came out after the KVs (BR-52, Panzerjagerwagen #1, Geschutzwagen IVb) and they didn’t have the same level of buildability…could be because they were more complex vehicles vs. the KV of course, but either way their subsequent releases were hit-or-miss depending on the kit in question.

It’s too clean for me but that doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with it.

!http://www.blinkyou.com/image_bank/avatar/Garfield_-_Garfield_2.gifI really like it. Surely it would look like this at some point in time.

Looks like a sweet build to me! [tup][tup]

I have a couple more of these guys awaiting the whitewash myself…that boxart cries out “winter diorama” to me. [;)]
