1/35 Heads with baseball caps neede

G’day all! I was wondering if anyone makes any 1/35 scale heads with baseball caps? I’m looking for around 4 of them.

Thanks!

Hey Ya Grim…I just got this (one) From Alpine Miiniatures

I know it’s only (1.) (you can get him for $10.40 at Models by Mickster) But there’s lots of Army ‘caps’ out there that might pass…

Cheers Indy. Does that figure come with 2 heads? I think i have seen this kit before.

A little rounded blob putty and a small piece of sheet styrene is a lot cheaper…[;)]

scott made one similiar to what the colonel’s saying! i wish i would’ve know i would’ve made some molds from my n.w.m. figure for ya!!

~ Yeah Grim (2) heads - like all the Alpine sets. His other head has the tanker brain-wrapper.

~ Hans - You are always the truth - and always cheap [8D] I don’t know if our friend here wants to sculpt, but great advice.

~ C.J. You 'da Man !

Thanks fer the props, Indy… My rep as a the forum skinflint remains secure, lol…

I got on the “Hat Kick” many moons ago, wanting to have a variety of soft-caps available without actually BUYING anything… I robbed many M-43 caps (no shortage of those) of their bills as well as making my own, lol… My first real “sculpting job” was done on the Tamiya “Crossed Arms” figure in the US Command Set… I needed a Drill Sergeant and that figure was perfect for both era and pose. After struggling with that hat’s crown, baseball caps were a breeze…

that i would like to see hans!!! that had to be a struggle making the d.s. hat from putty. ya got pics of it colonel?? [:D]

Sadly, no pics… I built it some 20 years ago…

oh well…

That’s the same recipe I used for my 1/35 SEAL wearing a baseball cap. It wasn’t too hard, but the results weren’t 100% what I was looking for. Have yet to add paint though, so I guess I can’t really make the call, I’m sure you could pull it off better than I if you have ANY sculpting or molding experience.

I use the end of a sprue (the rounded part where the sprue necks down to the part), a little Squadron putty and a piece of styrene. It works great to make WWII “Jeep” caps, so I guess it’d be pretty easy to make a baseball style hat!

Don’t some of the new dragon mercenarys have baseball hats?

I think the Trumpeter mercs do, but they havent been released yet. I’ll try and make some myself. Not desperate for them just yet, but need a couple for some figures i a plannng.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Just so happens that I have another US Command Set (Bought another M577 kit about a year ago), so just for you, I’ll try and reprise my effort from 20 years ago… I need a break from vehicles and aircraft anyway… So later today I’ll get started on Drill Sergeant Leemaster, E-4-3, Fort Leaonard Wood, MO- July-1976

almost sounds personal hans!! [:-^]

One thing you never forget are the names of your Drill Sergeants, CJ… DS Leemaster (along with DS Lamb and DS Carmichael) was one helluva Soldier and NCO, and I hated that hillbilly SoB with every fiber of my being… (I stepped on his boots not once, but twice the first day of BCT and life was never the same for me for the next 6 weeks and four days, lol… ) I was his “PVT Winger”, he my “Sergeant Hulka”…

i did my best to forget mine hans!!! although im sure i could remember their names if i made the effort…but they arent worth the space in my brain to do so!! [censored]

Ya, suppose so… Back in my day though, all the Drills were Infantry and Vietnam vets… The CIB coulda been our Company Insignia. The only Cadre members I remember seeing without a CIB was the XO, company clerk, and the armorer… My squad spent Armed Forces Day that year making a giant Combat Infantry Badge, about 50 feet long, with white rocks on the grass in front of the barracks…

that’s cool. and i imagine they were real “jerks” (to keep it clean) since they had to teach everyone what they went through in nam and such. dont get me wrong colonel, i admire and respect them for what they do and go through, i just didnt care for mine as far as i could throw them! now… the real question is…did you make that badge because you wanted to or did the d.s’ have nothing better to do? [:-^]
