I recently purchased two sets of Dragon figures to use in a project with some Tamiya figures. I put several of them together and the Dragon figures seem much larger. Is this an issue across all of their figures? Almost like 1/32 .
They could be slightly off, others have commented on what is called scale creep, some figures getting larger, but mixing should be okay as humans differ in size and shape, unless it’s so far off to you it looks ridiculous.
Yeah, sometimes it’s best to stay within just one manufacturer instead of mixing figures or vehicles.
The older figures from Black Dog models were gargantuan compared to other figures of the same. They were nice figures just grossly out of proportion.
Additionally, older Tamiya figures were anemic and short. It all depends on what you are looking for. Also, not all soldiers are 6’4", 220 lb muscleheads. There are lots of average-sized soldiers and lots of variations. Mixing brands shows this well.
Well these figures looked like they were on steroids compared to the rest.
The big thing in mixing figures is to make sure that items such as helmets, canteens, and weapons are the same size. If those are constant, then the height & build differences blend together more acceptably.
This is a great point. As simple as this sounds though there are many size variations, of what should be pretty standardized items, not just between manufacturers, but also by individual manufacturers. One that I remember most clearly was Tamiya, The M-60s in the M-113 ACAV kits versus the trooper M-60s in the standard M-113. The size difference between the two was probably about 20-25%.
I’m thinking of ditching the tamiya figures and just using the dragon ones. Now I have to make sure they fit the stug. The figures themselves look great though.
