Thanks for the link, but this is not a new kit.
It is only hard to find. I think Dragon got it out of thier catalog.
Sorry, I said new when I should have said re-issue.
James [:)]
P.S. So, how many crew on a CH-47? Anyone?
Actually, it doesn’t matter. The Dagon set is fine and
I see there are a few other Vietnam sets of figures available.
A bit of variety to choose from.
James [:)]
James,
A Slick Chinook in Vietnam carried the Pilot, Co-Pilot, Flight Engineer, Crew Chief, and up to two Gunners. (the CE usually assumed one of the door gun positions, but the FE’s job was to concentrate on the helicopter)
The ACH-47A carried the Pilot, Co-Pilot, Flight Engineer, Crew Chief/#1 Gun Position (front left), and four Gunners, generally 11 Bravo types, on #2 position (front right), #3 (right waist), #4 (left waist), and #5 (ramp).
Frank
Thanks!
Really looking forward to this kit. And, Hey, you never know, Panda
might include figures. Although I doubt it. LOL!

Its funny how Panda shows a picture of one of the GO GO’S on thier site for the CH47A ‘HEAVY’…but then again what other ‘heavy’ hooks were in Nam?
Hope there will be a decal selection for all four GO GO birds!
Easy money, Birth Control…what are the other two Frank?
Troy,
The word “Heavy” is a word that Panda has chosen to use for some reason, as the term was used when a pilot is relating to ATC that his aircraft was fully loaded.
example:
“An Khe apprach, Army 149 Heavy, 20 miles to the south, inbound”… or after getting on the ground and being tied down, you wouldn’t say; “I’ve been out flying in this CH-47 Heavy” [%-)]
The Go-Go Aircraft were as follows:
#64-13145… “Co$t of Living”
#64-13149… “Easy Money”
#64-13151… “Stump Jumper”
#64-13154… “Birth Control”
To see a picture of each aircraft, with clickable close-ups of each ones Artwork, go here: http://gunsagogo.org/aircraft1.htm
Later dude…

Thanks Frank![8D]
Dragon likes to play games with their figure sets. According to a source at High Sierra Hobbies in Reno, NV, they will make a limited run and then stop for a few months while doing the same with other kits and then make another run and so on. I was lucky enough to find 2 sets at High Sierra while I was living in South Lake Tahoe for the last year. I had been looking for over 3 years!!! Extremely nice set, by the way.[tup]
Those release dates for the PN35001 CH-47A in june and the PN35002 ACH-47 GUNS A GO GO in july has me a little confused. I wonder if thats a misprint or if they ment june/july 2004??? By the way july is my birthday month!!! A 1:35 CHINOOK would make an AWSOME!!! birthday gift!!!
Yes, it’s 6-7/04.
Looking forward to seeing how well the folks at Panda researched the Chinooks, but regardless, it’ll be noting a little scratch building won’t cure! [;)]
Frank
Ya know, I think the new kit may be just the thing I have been looking for, although I didn’t know it until I read this thread. I don’t have any hands-on experience with helicopters but I have loved them for as long as I can remember. The Chinook has always had a special place in my heart because I grew up in Chinook, Montana!
I have a few small scale Chinooks including Italeri’s ACH-47, but the new 1/35 would really be impressive! Can’t wait!

I wonder why panda said the CHINOOK’S should be released within the next three months when the release dates are JUNE/JULY 2004??? WEARD!!!
By the way thats around six months from now.
Finally someone has got the courage up to produce this kit.[bow] Now one can only hope that there isn’t a lack of detail. I have the F-35A and B and the U.S.S Cole models and they weren’t that bad, but I guess i have to give them time since they are new to the industry. IS IT JUNE YET!!![banghead]
Hang in there brother!
Your in a big club![8D]
Still a bit concerned about how well the kit was researched… I mean, as Troy said, Panda describes it as a CH-47 “Heavy”. Boeing-Vertol classified/s the CH-47 as a “Medium Lift” (the CH-54 was and always will be THE “Heavy Lift” aircraft)… my question is; if Panda didn’t research well enough to discover this, what other details did they miss?
If someone posted in here; “Hey guys, I use to fly left seat in a HC-52!”, we’d all know it was either a mis-print, or he just doesn’t know what he’s talking about… or what I’m afraid of (in Panda’s case) he’d say; “52… 54… it’s all the same thing”
Frank
Frank,
I know my problem is I was close up and personal with the Huey for too many years and now days when someone builds a model it’s researched by some 20 year olds on the computer and then drawings made on the computer for the molds and if they do ask an “experts” opinion it will be someone like our “friend” talked to or the Capt you spoke too! I will want to see what’s in the box before I buy it if Panda makes it.
Roger that, Mel! I imagine that kit is going to be pricey, and I’d hate to spend that much money on something that will need 40 hours of scratch building to make it accurate!
(We’ll let Papa Echo get one first, and he’ll be our Go or No-Go meter, okay?) [8D]
Frank
PANDA Guinea pig huh?
NO PROBLEM!
For a 1/35 scale HOOK its worth it!
From what I have seen the Panda kits do not cost anything like the Trumpeter or Tamiya kits. I do not believe the Hook will cost more than 40.00 or 50.00 tops!
Could be worse…could be a Revell of Germany kit!..$$$…at least then you know it would be very researched.
I can’t wait for my 1/72 scale VII C U-BOOT!..37 inches long!
