1/32 U-Boat

Hi folks!
There may have been a post about this in the past, but I just wanted to share something I saw in a hobby shop today.

It was an Andrea Miniatures U-Boat, in 1/32 scale. Huge! The full kit price was 260,000 yen ($2240 US), or you can get just the conning tower for 40,000 yen ($345 US).

I remember seeing this kit at the Shizuoka hobby show at the Andrea Miniatures booth (and one on display in the clubs section), but this is the first time I’ve seen one in the shops.

Anyway, man, it’s some kinda cool, but it may be the most expensive model I’ve ever seen!

Just thought ya’ll would like to know!

How many did you buy, J-Hulk?[:D]

Two.
Yours is in the mail![:D]

COD!!![:0]

Where’s Mine???

think it was andrea that put out a deck gun with crew also (or was it s&t?..hmmm) in 1/35. Saw it for the first time this weekend at a show. It was very nice but going for 229.00. Only place I have seen the uboat is online. looks awesome but so exspensive…[xx(]

It’s 1/32, IIRC. It is very cool, but it’s just a gun, crew and some deck. I think it attaches to the conning tower, but IIRC the conning tower figs don’t match up with the action figs provided with the gun (correct me if I’m wrong though).

And so HUGE! Where would you put it?

I think they may have overdid the scale of some of the details too.

Try getting that purchase past the wife.

IIRC, that model is waterline, not full hull…

For considerably less, a company called ROBBE makes a 1/35 Type VIIC with all the same goodies, about equal quality, and it’s full hull…fiberglass hull with resin tower and fittings. The R/C sub guys rave about them.

Hi, Jeff![:)]
The Andrea miniatures model is full hull, also. Not waterline.
Or are you saying that the IIRC model is waterline? Sorry if I’ve misunderstood you.

How much is the ROBBE boat?

My bad…the Accurate Armor Type VIIc is waterline only…and the Robbe kit is 1/40th, not 1/48.

The Robbe kit is $429 US, but it’s a whopping 67 inches long. They also do a Type XXI that 75.4 inches long for $520.

Here’s a couple of links:

And a review of the Type VII:

Ah, I gotcha!

Thanks for the links.
They are much cheaper than the Andrea offering!

Larry,
Why, in the most prominent place of my house…right smack dab in the middle of the dining room table. May not win cool points with the wifey, but friends and the neighborhood kids will love it.

My Amati 1/72 Type VIIC is sitting on the mantle above the fireplace, right smack dab in the middle of the living room…with the S-100 on one side, and a Type XXI on the other…

The wife actually says it looks nice sitting on the mantle, but I’m sure she’s really waiting for me to finish this Amerigo Vespucci from Pan-Art…I’m going to have to widen the mantle for this monster!

What’s the size of the 1/32nd U Boat???

One would imagine that it is roughly 1/32nd the size of a full-size U-boat. [:p]

That means, for a Type VII, around seven feet, if my quick math is not too off.
