1/32 Trumpeter SBD-3...in progress...

Haven’t posted this one here yet-- as the school year is ending and my vacation is beginning, I finally cracked open this one. Here is the progress over the last few weeks- bear with the pics…

First off-- the instrument panel had to be drilled out so one could see the nice dials that came with the kit–

And the result of the Mike Grant placards and gauges…as well as the drilling-

Now onto the rest of the office-

Early work-

And after the addition of the PE belts, as well as something to go in the life raft compartment-- learned from Chuk’s Helldiver build-

Over the weekend- I spent some time on the sidewalls, engine firewall and mount, flare compartment, and rear gun (not done with the painting on this yet)-

Also tricked out the radioset with Mike Grant dials–

And finally-- how I spent my Father’s Day-- adding placards and wiring to the already sweet engine-

Sorry for the picture blast-- but this is what Ihave been doing with this one-- I still have more I want to add to before I close everything up!

Dont be sorry for the picture blast, I like them. You’ve done some good work, beautiful detailwork! Looking forward to seeing more pics.

I really like your photos. They really show your progress and it’s looking very nice.

Blast away, Jeeves, it’s looking real nice.

That’s some nice work there!

Mike

Excellent progress Jeeves! Looks like a masterpiece in the works. [tup]

Looking good. I’ve built three SBD’s since the early eighties, all the Matchbox 1/32 kits. This looks better, much better.

Thanks for looking everyone. I just started summer vacation-- one of the few perks of teaching-- so I should be able to work some more on her soon!

Lloydscale-- I have the old Revell kit (not sure if it is the same as the Matchbox?)- and you are right-- just no comparison. There is even a bit more detail than the 1/48 AM kits…and that’s saying a lot!

Wow, that engine looks awesome! Great job on that. Love the cockpit, too. Keep us updated as often as you can. I love these in-progress threads. Gets me all motivated to get over to my bench and build instead of sitting here at my computer LOOKING at what I should be doing. [8-]

Very very nice, Jeeves. THat is outstanding detail that comes OOB. Looking forward to this one!

Thanks Devil Dawg and mucker…

Haven’t had much time lately, but I am nearing the point to where I will be closing it up-- more pics to come soon…

Really great looking work. I love those Mike Grant decals. Your detailing is fantastic.

…Guy

Thanks Guy!!

Well-- this weekend was my 11th wedding anniversary- so not much time to model-- but I have a bit more done. Straightened it out after taking the pic-- but I added copper wire for the trailing antenna on the reel–

And finished the rear gunner’s ring and ammo locker with float lights stowed behind–drilled out the lightening holes in the ring as well…not easy to do and I ended up piercing the end of my finger pretty well to boot!

Notice in this pic as well as the next-- I have added canteens for both men in the plane thanks to the help of some soares from a fellow modeler!

And now to carefully close things up!

[:D][bow]Very very impressive office! I loved every picture as it shows the work of a very patient and skilled person.

I take it this office will be installed into the fuselage being squeeky clean and like it just rolled out of the factory? Would love to see getting this masterpiece “used”. But thats my personal taste there ofcourse.

Looking forward to your progress.

Kermit out

Thanks for looking kermot!

A wash and weathering is yet to be done-- but will be before closing it up…
