1/32 Tamiya F-14B PAINT question

I am building the F-14B VF-103 of the Jolly Rogers and the ZOTZ decals say the canopy and tails are

semi-gloss black or gloss black.

Which would be the most logical choice?

Not sure it matters if you plan on glossing for decals, then flat coating in the end. I would look at photos of the real bird and decide if the black looks flat or semi-gloss, and adjust it at the end of the build.

I would suggest a scale black color though, such as black mixed with a bit of brown/gray so its not so stark.
