1/32 scale Mig 31 Firefox PP1

I agree. I still like the build up to that part also. I especially like the way once he was strapped in the cockpit Gant just went to town. I read the book long before the movie came out and as I recall, he had studied plans of the firefox cockpit that were smuggled out of the USSR, so he knew exactly what switcheds to active and knobs to turn…oh
“you must think in Russian” great line!

Really the most acurate replica,im another fan of this fictional design, so impressiveto see , first time in this hangar in Bilyarsk, my english is very poor, you have an unique luck with the real plans of apogee ,i see some models but are insatisfactory, your work is the best , is like see the models for the movie with remarkable sharpness

tried a test in cardboard(reason for rough texture) for the cockpit instrument panels… it looks like it will work great for doing the final parts …

here’s a pic:

same for turkey feathers for engine nozzles remember…this is only a test…working though

Really nice! [8D][tup] Will your kit include photoetched parts?

hope to have Photoetched parts, yes!..still working on the artwork for it

Here is a test of a few turkey feather patterns per the “hero” applied to a nozzel blank…pretty cool, I think…

Pretty cool? [%-)] Very cool! [8D][tup]

some new pics of the master…diff angles

Great looking master! Who is doing the casting? Will there be a complete cockpit? Once again, she’s a beauty.

I’ll be doing the casting on this as well…It’s what I do  yes there will be a complete cockpit and clear glass(plastic)

Hi all,
well I just updated the pics at the RPF forums site.
night before last, I spent removing all the gloss finish off the master. This will ease placement of the panel lines by mechanical pencil. Once it’s all lined out I will shoot a coat of clear over the pattern and then begin the labor intensive task of scribing all these panel lines for the tool. Last night I went back and finalized the nose facets sharpening up the edges for this area. It is this area of the plane that is often missed shape and contour wise. anyway on to the hyperlinks

Enjoy!
William

I have heard of another resin model of this aircraft but this is very impressive!
Keep up the good work!

Hello,
thank you for the compliment…there are actually two other resin kits out. 1 by Planet X at 1/72 sale the other by Studio 2 at 1/48 scale trouble is ,neither of them are close to what was actually used on the screen…I have both of them so I can say this is fact ,not speculation…too bad really
best,
William

this is the image that was used for reference to do the Gant standing sculpt, my firend Masao did the sculpts seen here…I think he did a great Job…yup it’s the first Firefox with figures.
Enloy!
William

Actually there’s another MiG-31 kit available - William bought an earlier version of the kit - and I’m releasing a completely revised 1/32 scale MiG-31 Phase II kit June 14, 2005:

Note side-by-side comparison shots of the MiG kit alongside a Revell 1/32 scale F-15C Eagle. Photos of detail parts will be posted soon.

Phase II F-62C Valkyrie II kit options are being tooled as of this date.

well howdy Orne,
welcome aboard!
William

Orne, it’s great that you are doing a Firefox as well. They shouldn’t and can’t be compared to each other as I’m going for a different level of detail(waited a long time and collected tons of reference of the years) using mostly resin. Please have the courtesy not to Hijack my threads to announce your model throughout the net.
Best,
William

Great looking Firefoxes, guys!
I loved that film and always thought that was one of the coolest aircraft designs. You are all doing the design justice!

Question:
What’s the difference between SCI-FI PROPMAKER and SCI-FI-REPLICATOR? William, are both those names you? Having a hard time telling from the posts, but it seems to be the same guy. No problem, but a little confusing.

One note: Although it’s certainly not my place to mention this, it appears that both SCI-FI PROPMAKER/SCI-FI-REPLICATOR and Orne are promoting their own commercial products here, which is strictly against FSM policy.

Again, not my place as such to police the forums, but just thought I’d give you guys a heads-up in case the thread gets yanked by the powers-that-be. Actually, I’m kind of surprised it’s gone three pages already!

All that aside, great work, guys! [tup]
I’d definitely love to have an affordable Firefox in my collection.

Hello Brian , yes it’s me both times, I couldn’t get my other name to work so I re resgistered…I also would like to apoligise for miss assumption of posting my fox as a kit available to all, this isnt the case , as I said earlier, I would entertain a private commission for a built up or kit if there was an interest, and to email me privately. I do humbly apologise if this is indeed a solicitation, this is not my sole intention what so ever.
What can I do to remedy this?? I think the damage is already done, if any???
Sincerely,
William

It would be a real shame if the making of masters weren’t shared here at FSM because it was misconstrued as self promotion. I say if your the guy who’s sharing your work on masters with the forum then you are doing no wrong. If it shifts to talk about purchasing kits made from these masters, it needs to go to email. Please continue to share your talent and skill. I looked for your bird at Wonderfest but I didn’t see it.
