I was wondering if anybody has ever built the 1/32 Revell UH-1D Huey. If you did, how would you rate the kit (like a workbench reviews’: pros and cons). Thanks so much.
Are we talking the old, old, old Revell kit here? If so I build 2 of those in my younger years and I’m sure something decent can be done out of it, with time and patience… I do remember the quite awful looking door hinges, but at the time, I had a whale of a time building them [^]. I’m not sure whether there are upgrade kits available either.
If you haven’t bought the kit, I’d suggest you wait for the imminent release of the 1/35 Panda kit, just to be sure you put your money on the best kit, really…
Those kits are a bear. The clear parts don’t quite fit and the detail is lacking. Also be prepared to putty the sucker! Ther are gaps that will need to be filled to make it look good. If you want a nice 1/35 scale UH-1D, try the Panda “Air Cav” or “Wasp”. These are hands down better than the old Revell kits and they come with very nice interiors and external details. Good luck!
With a great deal of scratch building, lights, small motors to make the main rotor spin one can make a very nice model . I have done this several times. One diorama was auctioned off by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 142 for $180.00 . You will have to put some work into it, but, it will make a nice model. Mickie Short from Michigan.
