Hello,
who makes a P-40 in 1/32 scale? What does this kit run retail? How are the details on it?
thank you,
seakinght
Trumpeter makes a 32nd P-40B/C which has also been boxed by Hobbycraft. Retails for $50 USD and although it has many annoying faults, mostly small, it’s a pretty good kit.
One problem that isn’t so minor is the cockpit, which is much too shallow. If you don’t care about that kind of stuff, then this will be a great SOB build for you.
(No, I’m not calling you an SOB… that means ‘straight-outta-da-box’ - LOL)
Then there’s the old Revell kit which, by today’s standards, is a bit long in the tooth. It has some outline and shape problems, some of which are not easy to deal with. But it possesses a good amount of detail and can be built up into a fantastic model, as evidenced by Rodney Williams’ excellent build:

This Revell kit can still be found at shows and is reisssued from time to time. Retail, it’s probably around a $15-20 kit these days, but you can most likely find one at a show for around $10 or so.
Fade to Black…
For the Trumpeter 1/32 P-40B/C kit, Cutting Edge @ Meteor Productions makes a very nice resin replacement cockpit, which corrects the main fault with the kit.
