1/32 Mig 15 WIP

I picked this up a while ago. this is the Hobbycraft [Trumpeter] Mig 15 bis. I’m goign to do this one up as Yeager’s Mig. Just for the fun of it. I also got the Eduard PE set, and the color cockpit set to go with it.

I skiped through the directions and decided to start with the engine. This has about 4 pieces of PE fromt he eduard set [all inside] and a bunch of added wire, brass rod, and rubber hoses. The color and plumbing are as close as I could get to the pictures I had of the real engine. C&C welcome.

Looking GOOD [tup]

Looks good so far. That kit is on my to-do list but hard to locate here in Thailand.

What are you using for reference pics? Sounds like you have color shots to work off.

Looking forward to more WIP shots.

A very well done engine. Nicely detailed…

Andy

Thanks guys. I’m enjoying this kit. I got the cockpit almost done now.

Yes, I managed to find a couple museum pics of the KV-1 Engine, but also a pic of one straight out of the Mig itself, no cleanup. I can send them to you if you want.

The engine looks very realistic, especially the color changes on the combustion chambers and exhaust outlet.

I wish I could do that…AND take that good of a picture!

Thanks guys. the engine was painted using some unorthodox methods. I started by painting the whole thing in shades of grey/white/black. The exhaust and the main engine were seperate during painting. I sprayed the exhaust with MM titanium, then did the ends in burnt metal, exhaust, and burnt iron. The rings were done with plumbers metal tape. The whole things was then flat coated and washed. the combustion area was done in much the same way. titanium with exhaust over it. The black injectors were nato black with burnt metal over it. All airbrushed.

Would greatly appreciate the use of the photos. Give me something else to look at beside palm trees and beautiful women!

Muchos gracias mi amigo.

That is a beautiful engine. I can’t wait to see the finished airframe.

Nice job. Can’t wait to see more.
