1/32 F/A-18C Finally finished!!!

hey everyone!!
Its been quite sometime since Ive been back to this site. I hate that Ive missed so many cool posts. I finally finished the F-18 Ive been working on. The Academy 1/32 F/A-18C …fwewww, what a beauty and certainly a hefty project. I used the kit decals for the Blue Diamonds, which, I had alot of trouble with. They didnt seem to want to adhere. I used the Future wax base for them, and used plenty of Micro Sol, but they still wanted to be stubborn and either lift or silver up. The decals for all the missiles and bombs were really a pain. I ended up dipping them directly into the micro sol instead of water. I decided to replace the kit cockpit with the Cutting edge set, which really had some superb detail. What a difference this set made!! I also used the photo etch set from Lion Roar. Which, I like alot of what it replaced, but some just seemed unneeded. But anyway, it was all in all a fantastic kit. Here are plenty of photos to check out. Hope you like…http://timsloan.fotopic.net/c95111.html

Beautiful build, really beautiful.

I think the decals turned out fine. I have heard alot of bad things about those decals, and I have bought some new ones from Twobobs for mine, but I haven’t really started it yet.

The cockpit looks nice, Is the kit cockpit really that bad ??

it looks great. i like the way the gear looks.

Monsterarmor,

Very nice!
You did a great job on that Hornet . [tup]

Thanks for sharing it with us.

hey , thanks for the compliment. Wish I hadve bought some aftermarket decals, I think I would of had better results. The kit cockpit is great, dont get me wrong. The panels that a supplied are really detailed. The seat could use some added details , but could easily be made from scratch. The thing that impressed me using the resin set was the addition of the electronics tub behind the seat(whatever thats called) and the canopy interior frame details, down to the pin cameras! The kit tub just had that bay closed up, but the resin set has complete detail and includes the screen mesh cover. Real phots of this can be found at www.aircraftresourcecenter.com under the Walkaround link.

Awesome. Thanks for sharing.

Very nicely done, thanks for the pics.

That is a really nice build, Monsterarmor. I especially like the “front office.”
I’m familiar with your decal problems; they can really bring a sour ending to an otherwise pleasurable project. Glad yours had a happy ending!

Decent ! I hope mine turns out as nice as yours. Thanks for the link !

Awesome! Absolutely awesome.

Excellent build. Academy decals are usually the weakest link in their kits.

Great looking F18, Monster!

Nice photos too.

Man that’s nice!! [:)] Thanks!

Take care,

Nice job! I’ve got one of these waiting in my to-do pile, just waiting for my skills to improve some – that’s just too much money spent on a model for my rookie skills!

Outstanding work Monsterarmor[tup][tup] I second the opinion on the front office… you did an excellent job. I hope (like others) mine turns out half as nice… I just completed the nose gear bay a couple of days ago.Now I am moving on to the office myself. Great work man!!

Great Looking Superbug you got there. I love the weathering you did to her. Your efforts have really paid off on this one. Thanks for Sharing.
