O.K. here it is guys, I just ordered Kangnam’s F-16 XL kit in 1/32 from MRC and I was wandering exactly how this kit goes together, and if there are any issues with this kit. I know it is an older kit, but cant find anything on it anywhere. I would like to detail it, and have come to the conclusion im gonna have to use PE and resin sets for other F-16 kits in this scale. I dont know how big of a can of worms I’m opening up by doing this, but if the kit isnt up to par, then I’m gonna be compelled to do it. Any pictures and comments on this kit would be apreciated.
inpw1;
well the XL will be about 25% longer, and about the same in width, as for the interior it basicly has the same office as the “A” models, with the ACES II seat, the plane is really an FSD modified so there was really no major differances between an “A” and the “XL” most of the modifications where on the wing & fuselage around the inlet, avionics & weapons management systems (but these are unseen on the exterior) and engine compartments and wings, I’ve work both “XL’s” when they where transit at Nellis, the F-16E (single seat XL) had a main generator failure and the F-16F (Twin seat XL) had an Anti-Skid problem both where inpressive airplanes I liked them better then the regular 16’s
inpw1 i bought this kit back in aug 03 the only problems i had with this kit was the rear landing gear bays it was to small so i did some cutting and made it a little,little bit longer, the other problem were in the molds itself the forward chin’s were not accurate some panel linesalso were not accurate as well after i completed it i found the model was back heavy if you would like more info go to F-16.net they have a moeling page as well you can either register to join there forums or just look it up, im also a member on there forums as well. Now the difference’s between the Kangnam kit and the Hasegawa kit is they both come with the radar, on the hasegawa kit the canopy come’s in a 2-peicse as where the kangnam kit come in a 1-peicse. If you want there’s another article on the F-16XL here’s the link: http;//www.internetmodeler.com/2003/august/aviation/F-16XL.htm the article also has some (pics) but the model is a 1/48 scale i hope this info works.
thanks for the info guys, this is the coolest looking F-16 out of em all. I found that website lastnight, and it looks to be a good source of info on the viper.
