I’m glad this one is done.Aside from being a tough kit to paint (due to it’s design) everything that could have gone wrong did.It is a seriously cool car and surprisingly my wife loves it.I’d like to build this one again and really nail it.
Here are a few pics of some of the fun I was having.Thanks to tape taking off the paint and glosscoat,several re-sprays resulted in that nice,orange peel effect.
Hey TD I think over-all it’s good. Have you ever tried Silly Putty? I say this because since I had seen the acticle by Bob Downie I use it all the time. Once you “make” some tools or get them you can put the putty in small places and it won’t stick to the paint most of the time. I use acrylic paint but Bob doesn’t. You can use it over and over. Like that spot where you had the tape. Cheers, K.
PS. I can look up that article in Scale Auto if you want? I know you mil. stuff but you can use it for anything.
I don’t think putty would have worked.The areas I taped had to be very precise.
That flat black could you have painted by hand inside? Or to small? I do cars from the 70s I take BMF, dull it (windex) spray it then contour it and cut it like the shinny stuff or use Black Chrome BMF.
I wound up having to hand brush some of the flat black when the tape took that off as well.I was absolutely plagued with problems on this build.It just wouldn’t end.
When I use Tamiya paint the Tamiya tape always eats it so I use Testors Model Master now and buff the heck out of it. Thats acrylic paint. Cheers.
Taping over the clearcoat seems to have been the problem for me.I won’t make that mistake again!

Thanks,but it was more irritating than fun.Some of it my fault.I am happy with the results.It’s a mircle it didn’t get fired into a wall!
