1/24 P-51 Mustang (Hobby Craft)

I just aquired the hobby craft 24th scale mustang. This looks like a sweet kit. problem is I would like to make this a tuskeege stang. Does anyone know where i can find 1/24 scale decals of the Tuskeegee air corps.?[?]

bullpup12d, First yes this is a very nice kit in fact I think it’s the best Mustang kit you’ll find in the 1/24th scale. Second 1/24th scale decals for the Mustang are very hard to come by but you may want to try Mike grant decals because I know he makes decals for the 352nd Fighter Group better known as the Blue Nosers Of Bodney so he might have some decals for the great fighter pilots of Tuskegee as well. In fact if he dont have them he might be able to make them for you so give him a try. Good luck and I hope this helps.

AmTech makes the VERY thing you’re looking for. Sheet TGR 24101 has two selections for Tuskeegee planes. I bought the Blue Nose planes decals for mine, then these came out and I was sorry I didn’t wait! Doesn’t matter much though, neither will probably ever get built :-o

Look out for all the ejector marks on the inside of the kit. That was a bit disappointing to me, but it is an otherwise nice kit… except for the instructions (check your decal reference, it must be the Trumpeter version, because decal numbers on mine don’t correspond to the kit)

Ignore the kit painting instructions, the colors listed on mine were WACKY… use a reference or some photos, or painting instructions from another kit.

I think waldron makes some inexpensive data placards ($5 or so) for the model too

Hope the Info helps

I hope Hobbycraft is not going to start making completly useless painting guides like Trumpeter manages to do on almost every kit they produce. This is a royal pain in the butt! It takes alot of research to find the correct colors. If they gave you nothing it would be better instead of the complety useless and inacurrate Mr Color numbers. The Mr Color numbers on the instructions do not even match the numbers on the Mr Color chart! On top of that I have been unable to find a chart to convert Mr Color Numbers over to something usefull like Testors or Tamiya. Anyone here from Hong Kong. If you are would you mind going to the factory and smack someone on the back of the head! It would be greatly appreciated.
