I purchased a 1/24 plastic kit of a Beaver floatplane from Cedar Creek Trading Post. It said it was a snap kit which it is. I have included some pictures for anyone that might want a good base to build a Beaver. I built it OOB with the addition of a pitot tube, flap hinges, and detailed water rudders. Boy it sure takes a lot of paint to do something this big. There is a quarter sitting in front of the one float so that the size can be judged.
A very nice paintjob, Gbritnell
Is there a cabin in this kit?
Regards, Dan
Hi Dan,
No interior, it’s basically a snap kit but I wanted to see what it was. The proportions are pretty close so if someone wanted to spend time cutting out the windows it’s big enough that you could add a lot of detail. There is a website called dhc-2 beaver and they have a ton of photgraphs that could be used as reference.
Always love Beavers!!! I hope to build one some day myself. Looks fantastic!!
I got me one-o-them! 'Twas my Dad’s. He got it back… geez, when Cedar Creek first started running their ads in FSM. Probably '84, '85. Unfortunately, I have absolutely no desire to build the thing! [:p] But it sure do look groovy built up, nice job, guy.
Fade to Black…
Very nicely done. Love the paint job.
I know this is an old thread, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a company that sells a scale kit of the DH Beaver float plane? It is one of my favorites and I’d love to build one.
Thanks
Mahones
They are still available for $25.95 from Ceder Creek Trading Post. Check out your latest issue of FSM, they are advertised in the “Modeler’s Mart” adds in the back of the magazine. This is about the best model kit out there for a “Beaver” unless you get into the larger R/C models. ( I have a R/C Beaver with a 102" wingspan it takes up a little room )
Hobbycraft also makes a 1/48 DHC/2 Beaver Floatplane and I have seen an Military Version also…
Airfix also has one in 1/72. It’s pretty basic, but it does come with optional floats and skis. There are two marking options, One US Army and one British.
I love the beaver. I grew up around them and we used to go out in them a few times a year. Were I lived there was a lot of them.
Nice model. Even without an interior.
Great Looking Beaver. Very nice job

Don’t mind me, I’m just a “dirty old man”
