I just picked up Eduard’s 1/16 Schwimmwagen. Nice kit, but no engine. I was wondering if I could combine with Tamiya’s 1/16 Kubelwagen, which does have an engine, and nice details.
Any thoughts on this kit bash?
just bought the Kubel wagen (european theatre) for $94 at my LHS.
Looking for input before I pull the shrinkwrap off.
The engine of a kübelwagen and a Schwimmwagen are the same in real life… i do’nt know how the scaled versions would mix in a bash tbh.

I was reading a modeling magazine from Korea this morning (this was their last issue before shutting down the operation), which had tons of information on Swimmwagen. According to this magazine’s article if the Kubelwagen’s engine is from later version (?), then you have the same engine as the Schwimmwagen. Initially, Schimmwagen’s engine had 1.5 more horsepower, which was also adapted by Kubelwagen. Here are the illustration of Schimwagen’s engine.
