1/144 Trumpeter F-16

This is the result of a Saturday morning stop at Hobby Lobby and a weekend back from vacation where Ijust wanted something easy to mess around with. I put zero effort into weathering it, and I just wanted to mess around with it, so here it is. Masking the scheme was done with Tamiya tape for curves, and I was lazy, so the black is just Mr. Surfacer 1500, then Tamiya Medium Sea Gray followed by Tamiya White. Looks like a toy, but it kind of is.

Sometimes it is nice to reboot the building mojo with a simple kit. Great camouflage for such a small subject!

Very nice Brandon, very nice. I been wanting to get this kit from the time I saw the same paint scheme but with Alaska’s squadron ID. Look’s great sir!

What a great looking build! I’ve only built maybe 3-4 of those 1/144 kits and they are real gems. I wish there were more subjects available in that scale. I’ve built some of the Dragon and Revell kits and they were real works of art in terms of quality. What did you think of the Trumpeter F-16? Did it go together well?

Eric

Thanks, all!

It was a lot of fun to build.

Eric - the kit goes together well. I was surprised to see it actually has 30+ parts in the box (assembled, this one has 28 on it).

The upper fuselage and wings were one piece, which was nice. Seam on the lower fuselage to wing root joint took a little dab of Perfect Plastic Putty, as did the tail fin where it meets the fuselage, because it had a very small gap. Everything else fit really well, including the clear part and radome. There is a small step on the underside of the radome where it sits a little proud of the lower fuselage, but it wasn’t enough to worry me.

Looks great. Perfect kit to get the modeling bug back

Toy or not, that looks awesome. You did a fantastic build on a simple no frills kit!

Your friend, Toshi

Very nice build. Getting back into modeling and just picked this one up. Thanks for posting.

I’d have never guessed it was that small given all you’ve done with it! Nice camo for sure.
