I understand that the 2008 Bullit Mustang is painted the same color as the 1968 Mustang GT used in the movie “Bullit”. Can anyone confirm this? What is the color called and is there a model paint manufacturer who makes this color? I recall there is a manufacturer that does MODEL paints for vintage model cars, but I have not been able to locate this company. Revell issued a 2008 Bullit Mustang and it looks good. Is there a better model of the 2008 Mustang, particularly the Bullit Mustang? Has anyone released a “King of the Road” Shelby GT500 Mustang (modern mustang)? Thanks in advance.

The 2008 is Dark Highland green and a modern B/C paint where the 1968 is Highland Green and old 60s enamel.
The original car was dark green. I caught something on television of an interview with Steve McQueen’s son discussing the cars. Apparently McQueen managed to keep one of them.

accually I believe he got a replica made from a dynacorn because they wrecked one of the originals and the other is in a private collection and the owner says he wont sell for any amount of money.
I did the new Revell 08 Bullit in MM British racing green over a black base coat.
Not accurate for rivet counters, but I think it came out looking good compared to the real car.

The MM British racing green is the closest I have seen to the Highland Green Poly. This was an acrylic enamel used in the sixties. The new Bullit Mustang (2008) has the base coat/clear coat and has been matched (hue) to the original 1968 color (so says a Ford engineer who worked on the 08 Bullit car project).
Rivits? On a car? I’m an airplane fanatic, but like to do an occasional car and the Bullit Mustang is a natural for me because the movie is one of my all time favorites. I know I saw an add in FSM, or on this web site, for a company that makes vintage car paints for models, but I cannot find it now. Thanks guys, if I find the “right” paint I’ll post the information.
