I picked this revell kit off ebay a few days ago and started peicing things together. I am still undecisive on what color to paint it thuss far, but I am diggin the flat black rat rod kinda look.
I am trying to figure out how to copy this picture and get it on there.

That is looking pretty good! To get that image as a decal, try scanning it and then printing it on some of the decal paper then spraying it with the decal spray Testors makes. They carry the stuff at walmart and hobby lobby.
I have the image as a digital picture so no worries there. I also have a bit of experience with photoshop as well so I can get it to scale its jsut the whole laying it on there without rips, tears, and massive bubbles due to the compound curves on teh model ya know.
I went and picked up that testors kit and have to say that the images they offer are a complete joke imo. maybe a whopping 25 total different designs? LOL ya but the main thing is that it had the decal paper and sealer in it.
I jsut wish I could leave the vehicle in the flat black form instead of having to go the gloss route with the decals and what not. I used an enamel primer, base coat so I guess that really means that I have to use an enamel clear to finalize things. I think I read that you can spray enamel over acrylic but not acrylic over enamel. The last thing I want to do is have to strip the body and start over again at this point. btw I got the suspension/drivetrain in last night and am working on the stance a bit more now, stock jsut isnt good enough hehe.
If decaling the image isn’t a good idea… how about airbrushing it ?
No airbrush. YET!! I think I am gong to look at picking one up if I am too get much more into this hobby of mine. I feel extremly limited in my painting abilities with just a brush. I am printing the decal out right now so in a few days we shall see how it all turns out. I still have to lay down a few coats of gloss black and all the sanding inbetween so.
I hear ya’ about the airbrush.
I finally broke down… actually my wife ordered it after I picked it out and looked at it for a month. Yes my pockets are tighter than a ducks… butt.
I picked an Iwata Eclipse BCS as my first “general purpose spray anything” airbrush since it was fairly cheap ($80) and has to be used for a few things. Now I’m looking at one for doing finer detail work but it cost around $200. The AB’s are bought to share amoung the family right now, but I’d like to get back to doing 1:1 auto’s. Maybe I’ll play around with my BCS some more first. Who knows… one custom paintjob on something and I can get the $200 Iwata. [;)]

I jsut want to feel how things go with the air brush and see if it is something that I can take to another step. maybe doing custom air brush work (once learning the real flame technique) and making some money on teh side kinda thing, on 1:1 cars/trucks/boats. I can use a paint gun pretty efficently but HATE the sanding process! !LOL I think I am going to pick up one of the el cheapo $20 kits with the adapter for an air compressor and see how that goes. and if I find that I need to get a much finer spray and enjoy using the gun then I might look at higher end models. I jsut dont want to jump into a 3-400 setup and not like it ya know.
THX for the positive comments thuss far about progression and looks. I dont consider myself to be near the caliber that some modelers are around here, but it is nice to know that my work is at best satisfactory.
as for the brand of speaker in the avitar? ummm its the lill thumper series made by thumpster inc. with independant 15 band l/r spectrum eq’s and a complete three way active crossover network utilized. if you cant hear it turn your speakers up. sounds great over here lmao.
kylec, I appreciate the possibility of reference pictures but this started to be a close resemblance to a stocker but then things got out of hand in a hurry. it is turning into a custom more everyday that I look at it!! LOL put it this way if the decal turns out to be too big or something I am going to paint the back window completly black and use that area to place decals 
it wouldnt be the first time I have done something like that! !LOL
You can just spray the hood with a gloss clear such as Future floor polish, then apply the decal, then use micro sol to set the decal. If you want to keep the flat paint, you can use Future mixed with Tamiya Flat base (X-21) and it will give you a nice flat coat and seal the decal.

a few updated pics, I got the body painted and a roling chasiss done up.
I hate to say it but model paints jsut dont have that same luster and depth as a real automotive paint does. I used 3 coats of flat black primer and 4 coats of gloss black enamel. no sanding inbetween gloss coats and I got a pretty nice finish. I think next time I do a simple base color like so I am going to throw in some of the HOK metal flake to make things POP. speaking of which how do airbrushes handel flakes?
almsot finished. I still have to lay on the custom decal and touch up a few spots with some paint.
