TOO much emphasis on EXACT replication

I have the very same model as this one in 1/72 scale by Tamiya and it shows the very same white lettering. I believe that those who produce such models and decals have made enough thorough research work to know what they are doing. I only limited myself to choose a different set of decals, not too dissimilar than the ones contained in the box, but because I needed the correct decals for “Moonbeam McSwine” during the famous Operation Bodenplatte during the Battle of the Bulge. Other than that, the painting remained the same. BTW, it is already complicated enough to correctly depict it as suggested in the Tamiya instructions, especially when thinking of painting it all in the actual shades suggested.
There are some color pictures on the Web of a reconstructed flying one (probably also videos) and they all correspond to what you see here.
The ones who reproduced the actual aircraft are not just pilots and mechanics, but also history researchers and therefore I would trust them more than anyone else.
